Weight lifting should not be confused with "weight training," which is the general lifting that you do at the gym. Weight lifting standards are an indication of the maximum load or one repetition max (1RM) that you should be able to lift for a particular weight lifting exercise based on your gender, body weight and weight lifting experience.
